NIKHIL BISWAS

Born in 1930, Nikhil Biswas completed his diploma in Fine Arts from the Government College of Arts and Crafts, Kolkata. He died in 1966 at the young age of 36. He was known for mysterious dark figures and was haunted by social and personal void from which his paintings developed. The Society of Contemporary Artists and the Calcutta Group of Painters were founded by him.

Prabhas Kejariwal of Chitrakoot Art Gallery and Ashatit Halder of Charulata have jointly organised and exhibition of the paintings of The Van Gogh of Kolkata-Nikhil Biswas, at Chitrakoot Art Gallery till 22 March, 2025 from 2 pm to 6 pm. All passionate artists, connoisseurs, students and teachers are encouraged to visit this exhibition.
